WWF put together this great looking (and somewhat frightening) short about the realities of our globe’s food consumption habits, due to population growth and current dietary desires, the eventual lack of food production space. Because no one likes a complainer who doesn’t also propose solutions, (spoiler alert) the WWF short suggests food that produces more calories per drop of water. Where that takes me is, either we need to start engineering food that can do this (which counters the whole organic movement) or we need to change our eating habits to consume food that has a lower material production cost (like more vegetables and less meat).
