STATIONPARK stars one of my favorite skateboarders, Kilian Martin, doing what he does best, flatland freestyle. Teaming up with longboard video director Juan Rayos (maker of the wonderful Carving the Mountains), the exceptional use of sound and lighting, exquisite editing and spectacular skating make this a standout in the world of skateboard videos.

Always A Fire | Chad Jones Documentary is an incredible comeback story about Chad Jones, an up-and-coming football superstar. He was a 3rd round draft by the New York Giants during the 2010 NFL draft, but two months after achieving his dream of becoming a professional football player, Chad’s car got stuck on streetcar tracks and crashed into a pole, nearly destroying his left leg. Directed by Nathan Caswell & Jeremiah Zagar, this is the amazing story of his recovery.

Danny MacAskill vs. San Francisco is a bike film about power, precision and control by Remington Europe. Featuring the phenomenal Danny MacAskill (who will blow your socks off in his Industrial Revolutions and Way Back Home videos), the film is a great look at both his process and his abilities in that it has him talking about what he loves about riding and doing tricks while riding and doing tricks all over San Francisco.

Note: Remington baked an ad into the beginning of the video so to save time, I set the embed to skip it (which is why it starts at 0:25).

Embrace is a dance and motion graphics short featuring Megan E. Martinez. Animated by Ashley Rae Pearsall, of all of the things that motion graphics can supplement and enhance, dance is easily one of my favorites.

Joe Flemke: A Short Skate Film is a fantastic showcase of the flatland freestyle skateboarding skills of Joe Flemke. Filmed and edited by Brett Novak (the man behind some of my favorite skateboard videos), this is a great look at the myriad of wonderful skateboard tricks that can be done from a complete standstill.

LGM – The Lost Mystical is a compilation of left over footage from Mutiny Bikes‘ full-length video, Let’s Get Mystical. Filmed and edited by by Joe Simon, the man behind Mutiny’s excellent RC Helicam Test and One Spring Day, it’s simply a whole lot of fun.

Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen and Steve Caballero were three members of Powell Peralta’s Bones Brigade, the most influential skateboard team ever. Bones Brigade: An Autobiography is a documentary about the team and how they directly shaped the last 30 years of skateboarding. Directed by Stacy Peralta, co-founder of Powell Peralta and iconic 1970s skateboard champion/Z-Boy, this looks absolutely amazing.

It’s not a death metal band, an extreme diet club or historic dominoes association—the Bones Brigade was a talented gang of teenage outcasts. Unmotivated by fame or popularity, they completely dedicated their lives to a disrespected art form. For most of the 1980s, this misfit crew headed by a 1970s ex-skateboard champion blasted the industry with a mixture of art and raw talent becoming the most popular skateboarding team in history. The core unit of the Bones Brigade built an empire that covered the world. They dominated contests, made hundreds of thousands of dollars, created the modern skateboard video, reinvented endemic advertising, pushed skate progression into a new era, and set the stage for a totally new form of skating called street style.

Be Individual is a never-ending breakdance story where individuals from all walks of life resolve their conflicts and express their frustrations by breakdancing. Put together by JuBaFilms (makers of the astounding With A Piece of Chalk and gravity-bending Da Capo), it’s a pretty fun look at a whole lot of dancers and a whole lot of breakdance styles.

Nike Skateboarding – #SkateEveryDamnDay featured Eric Koston, Sean Malto, Omar Salazar, Stefan Janoski, Alex Olson and Paul Rodriguez skating all over Shenzhen, China. While seeing their interactions with the city and its citizens is interesting, it’s the video’s meshing together of 1st and 3rd person perspective that really makes it stand out.
